Taking Part: Schools Sing Whitehaven

Leading to the launch of Rosehill’s flagship youth choir project Rosehill Children’s Choir that begins in August 2017 we have been delivering Schools Sing. This builds on the success of our previous singing projects with schools over the last two years.

Schools Sing has provided the opportunity for schools to learn a variety of repertoire, including music from Friday Afternoon songs (an international initiative encouraging young people to sing and Inspired by Benjamin Britten).

The participants will perform alongside professional musicians and other schools in a community concert. We have been working with keystage 2 students from St Bees Village School, Bransty Primary School, Distington Primary School and Hensingham Primary School on fun, engaging sessions, designed to introduce students to new musical experiences and ignite a love of singing!

Vocal leaders Robbie Jacob and Hannah King, have worked with each school teaching the students new songs and developing their performing confidence. The workshops will culminate in a Schools Sing day at Rosehill on Thursday 13 July 2017.

This project has been made possible by the generous support of

Copeland Community Fund
Cumbria Music Hub
Whitehaven Town Council
Friday Afternoons project – Aldburgh Music
West Cumberland Choral Society
