These Demon Ways is a piece of new writing in development by Emma McGordon, a local writer and performance poet, who fuses spoken word and theatre.
The play centres on a young woman who returns to Whitehaven after university. Struggling with rural isolation and obsessive thoughts, she meets an older woman and begins a journey that will end with her realising that the landscape of West Cumbria is crucial to her sense of identity within the world. Told over a ten year time period, the story unfolds through poetry and dialogue from chaos to hope.
We are working with Director Alice Knight (Young Vic/Jerwood Assistant Director’s Programme – 2013/14) on the development and production of this new writing which will be presented in Rosehill’s reopening season.
