Music: Anna Cooper, Barnaby Philpott and Edd Leech

Cumbrian mezzo-soprano Anna Cooper, one of Rosehill's featured artists, is joined by trombonist Barnaby Philpott and pianist Edd Leech for an afternoon of specially arranged music from Berlin to Broadway.

Their programme will include music by Kurt Weill, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.

AnnaCooperHeadshotAnna was adopted as Rosehill's 'rising star' in 2018 in support of her studies with the prestigious Royal College of Music's International Opera School. She made her Rosehill debut with a concert in The Green Room restaurant in August 2018, in which she enthralled and entranced diners, and has since returned several times, including for Rosehill's super 60th birthday celebrations in September 2019.

Anna went to school in Kirkby Lonsdale and became a choral scholar for Levens Choir. She also sang with Amabile Girls' Choir, Kendal, winners of the BBC Radio 3 Youth Choir of the Year title in 2006.

She studied for an undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music before progressing to a Master's degree at the Royal College of Music and then taking up a place on the opera course at the RCM International Opera School, for which only six candidates were successful.

barnaby-philpott-cropBarnaby has performed in arenas, stadiums and on television with world-class artists such as Muse, Bastille, Lorde, Michael Bublé and Public Service Broadcasting, as well as touring classical concert halls and opera houses with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

He has performed regularly as a featured musician, both on stage and in the pit, in plays and musicals at West End theatres, and is a member of South London brass collective Old Dirty Brasstards.

Edd-Leech-headshot2Edd is an orchestral freelancer and chamber musician specialising on tuba, and is also a professional pianist and teacher. He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he was awarded a 1st Class Honours degree, and then at the Royal Academy of Music for a Masters degree, achieving a distinction.

He has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, English National Opera, Gabrielli Consort and Players, the Hyogo Performing Arts Orchestra of Japan and the Britten Sinfonia. Most recently he was appointed to the position of principal tuba with the Chroma Ensemble and is a member of the prominent brass quintet Quintabile.

This is an eclectic mix of musicians performing cabaret and musical theatre. Don't miss a wonderful afternoon of musicianship and entertainment.
