Music: Paul Lewis - solo recital

Following advice from the Government for people to avoid public places including restaurants and theatres, Rosehill Theatre and The Green Room restaurant are closed until further notice and bookings have been suspended. We will reopen as soon as it is considered safe and sensible to do so.

Performance information

Paul Lewis CBE returns to Rosehill with a solo recital featuring music by Beethoven and Schubert.

Beethoven Piano Sonata no.13 in E flat major 'quasi una fantasia' op.27 no.1
Beethoven Fantasia in G minor Op.77
Beethoven Piano Sonata no.14 in C sharp minor, 'Moonlight', op.27 no.2
Schubert Sonata for Piano no.18 in G major D894

Paul, who hails from Liverpool, is internationally regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation. He studied under Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London before honing his craft with famed pianist Alfred Brendel, whom Paul acknowledges as a mentor and himself a previous performer at Rosehill.

Paul is an exceptional pianist who performs all over the world. Don't miss this chance to see him up close and personal in Rosehill's intimate auditorium.

Meanwhile, plans are being developed with Paul to curate a series of piano recitals over three years, presenting pianists he would like to introduce to the Rosehill audience, who would also lead masterclasses with younger Cumbrian pianists maybe heading for music school and college or taking piano lessons to an advanced level – further information to follow.
