Music: Returning Leopards

Local duo Returning Leopards come to Rosehill as part of our summer Barbecues and Bands series, including live music and a delicious barbecue from The Green Room at Rosehill.

Returning Leopards are Keith Fitton and Matt Kirk, with Matt on rhythm guitar and Keith on lead guitar and harmonica.

Keith has played guitar since the age of 11 after swapping his collection of cowboy annuals for a beat-up student nylon-strung piece of wood. He played in a school band and various college outfits, developing as a singer-songwriter. Following a serious motorcycle accident in 2004, he lost the use of his right arm/hand and has since developed a means of playing guitar one-handed using only his fretting hand.

Matt is Keith’s son-in-law, growing up in Yorkshire and Blackpool before locating with his family to Cumbria. He attended art college in Hull and learned to play drums as well as guitar. He was soon playing in local bands, performing indie rock while also starting to write his own songs.

After "messing around and playing songs" a few times, Matt and Keith decided to launch themselves as Returning Leopards in 2014. Their largely original material tells tales of relationships that go well, and some that don’t, the search for meaning, the rise and fall of fortunes lost and fortunes gained, set in the dreamy landscape of Cumbria. Their sound has to be heard - a softly pulsating, plaintive cry, at times a sort of psychedelic folk rock with mixed overtones of indie rock and the close harmonies of The Jayhawks.

Ticket price includes a barbecue from the team in The Green Room. Please advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
