Our goal is to drive positive change for our organisation, our region’s artists and cultural ecology, and the West Cumbria community. We have developed an evaluation approach that enables us to reflect, learn, and continually evolve our work.
Working with Dr Stephanie Hawke, we have developed a new Theory of Change for the organisation.
This focuses on three areas:
1. A healthy and happier community
2. A connected and curious community
3. A resilient and valued cultural ecology
Evaluation
Working with independent evaluator Kate Rodenhurst, we have instigated a robust evaluation of our programme. The assessment provides insight that the team uses to understand the programme's impact on the participants, the wider community, the cultural sector, and Rosehill.

Research and learning partner
Over the past year, we have strengthened our partnership with UCLan (University of Central Lancashire) as our research and learning partner. They have provided in-kind support via Dr Suzanne Wilson for half a day a month to help Rosehill develop and deliver our Cultural Strategy. Suzanne's research focuses on coastal communities, including the Cumberland Child Poverty Forum and the Families Forum for Social Inclusion. Our work, particularly the KIND project, is informing her research. The discussions, challenges and issues from those forums and the research surrounding them have also informed our Theory of Change and ongoing work with communities.
