Sauerkraut Spell-Making
Take PartAn artistic exploration of our power to affect change
Are you passionate about community building and activism?
Are you 18 - 30 years old, living in West Cumbria?
Do you want to be part of a creative process that blends self-empowerment, art, activism, and the power of ritual? If so, join Sauerkraut Spell Making!
What’s Involved?
Making sauerkraut and making spells: working with food fermentation, creative writing and performance to inspire positive change in our communities.
When making sauerkraut, the humble cabbage undergoes a transformation through fermentation powered by billions of invisible microorganisms.
Spell making can be interpreted as the creation of rituals to galvanise our intentions for change.
This project combines fermentation, spell making and performance to harness our personal and collective power to affect the future.
We are excited to invite you to take part in this unique process, developed and delivered by Rosehill’s associate artists Unfinished Business (Leo Kay and Anna Smith). Through collaborative workshops, you’ll connect with other young creatives, discover and express the changes you wish to see and call them into being at a final celebratory event.
The project will run in March and April 2026, taking place over two weekends at Rosehill, plus a few online sessions in advance.
