Exciting news about one of our 'featured artists'

Congratulations to mezzo-soprano Anna Cooper on winning the overall Maureen Lehane Vocal Award!

Anna, from Kirkby Lonsdale, was adopted as Rosehill's "rising star" in 2018 in support of her studies with the prestigious Royal College of Music's International Opera School, from which she has now graduated.

She made her Rosehill debut with a concert in The Green Room restaurant in August 2018, enthralling and entrancing diners, and has since returned several times as well as performing in our recent Rosehill on the Road festive video.

We are delighted she has been named overall winner in the 28th Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards. Read more about the awards here.

Live stream

Meanwhile, Anna, trombonist Barnaby Philpott and pianist Edd Leech are featuring in a free lockdown stream for Great Artists - Small Venue, Upstairs at The Gather, Ennerdale. Watch live from 7pm on Tuesday 9 February or catch up any time as the link will remain available afterwards.

Barnaby has performed in arenas, stadiums and on television with world-class artists such as Muse, Bastille, Lorde, Michael Bublé and Public Service Broadcasting, as well as touring classical concert halls and opera houses with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Edd is an orchestral freelancer and chamber musician specialising on tuba, and is also a professional pianist and teacher. He has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, English National Opera, Gabrielli Consort and Players, the Hyogo Performing Arts Orchestra of Japan and the Britten Sinfonia. He is also a member of the prominent brass quintet Quintabile.

We were thrilled to welcome Anna, Barnaby and Edd to Rosehill last March for a variety of solos, duets and trios from various genres, including musical theatre, classical, opera and jazz, and look forward to their online performance for our friends at The Gather.
