Music: Emma Johnson: Clarinet Goes To Town

An artist of unique skill and charisma, former BBC Young Musician of the Year Emma Johnson brings her 'Clarinet Goes To Town' show to Rosehill on Sunday 15 April at 3pm.

One of the most popular figures on the concert scene and widely regarded as Britain's favourite clarinettist, this is your opportunity to experience Emma Johnson's unparalleled talent and rapport with her audience in the intimacy of Rosehill's silk-lined auditorium.

'Clarinet Goes to Town' pays tribute to some of the genre's all-time greats such as Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Sidney Bechet while exploring the roots of traditional American jazz. Emma is accompanied by pianist John Lenehan and Paul Clarvis on percussion.

A delightful evening! Wonderful musicianship and such enthusiasm and joy in playing . . . and so for us as listeners! We also loved the way Emma introduced the pieces and talked about the influences and significance of the development of jazz.

"What a real treat. Superb programme of music, loved Emma’s narrative. Incomparable musicianship, performers and audience created a wonderful “session” type atmosphere. A concert to remember.
