Volunteer profile - Helen Race
One minute she's working with sheep on the family farm, the next she's herding people into a show at Rosehill! For our Volunteers' Week series, one of our more recent recruits Helen tells us why she really enjoys volunteering.

Where do you live? Gosforth
Where do you work? I run my family's hill farm at Wasdale Head, alongside my dad.
How long have you been a Rosehill volunteer? About three months.
Why did you decide to get involved? I have a background in the arts and wanted to become more involved in local arts. I work alone a lot with my job, so found it an opportunity to be sociable and meet new people with similar interests.
What are your main responsibilities? Showing people into a performance and checking tickets, making sure everyone is okay during the show or film, tidying up afterwards, and handing out flyers.
What do you enjoy most about the role? Meeting new people and seeing the shows.
What do you do in your free time? I like seeing live music performances, reading and gardening.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that we might be surprised to learn! I spent four years working and living abroad.
What does Rosehill mean to you? It's a great venue and plays an important role in bringing the arts to the area.
What would you say to anyone who is interested in volunteering? I'd say go for it, it's a great venue, full of lovely friendly people and helping out is a great way to spend some of your free time.
